Those of you that have repaired your leaking diff., what was the issue? Which seal was it? Since it sounds like a common occurence I was thinking its a common issue?
Mine has enough dirt\oil buildup that I can't tell exactly where the leak is from so until I clean it and run it for a while to see I thought I would ask for anyone else's experience.

Mine leaked three times. One time the dealer replaced the entire cover on the left side of the differential to try and solve the leak and the other two times it was the seal that the half-shaft fits into (I think). It was all done under warranty. After the third repair, I didn't have any other instances of leaking.
GM has updated the service bulletin for this repair. You need to replace the axle seal and the cover seal and install sealer on the cover. Ask your local dealer for a copy of the bulletin or you should be able to find it on here somewhere. Just did mine last week, not a fun repair. I would recommend paying a tech to repair it.

same here plus add an axle and special sealer my diff was leaking from 3 or 4 places. bummer to spend 4 different days at the dealership only to be disapointed a week later when seeing and smelling the fuild on your garage floor..
Had mine fixed the first week of July Chevy dealer with a few great Vette mechanics about 45 minutes from me. He fixed it following the new service bulletin, cost $380 with a one year warranty.
My seal on the left side of the Diff. was leaking.
I changed the fluid and replaced it with Red-line Oil.
The leak stopped. That was 3 years ago. Still dry.
Interesting to read as most guys say theirs leaks on the left side. My left side is dry as a bone while the right is pretty saturated.
The small drop on the floor every other day is VERY thin clear oil. I wonder if changing to Red Line or similar would make it go away? I guess I could try it and if it didn't work I am only out $20 in oil before I dive in and have to change the seals.
I did mine a while back. I took out the cradle and gave it a good cleaning. It was not a bad job. I replaced both seals on both sides. Gene Culley hooked me up with everything I needed...and for a good price!
