Default Torque those wheels, and check them...

Put the new wheels on last week, torqued them down at 100ft-pd, well, decided to check them just now, man, I was surprised at how much both fronts had loosened , so I torqued them down again . 100ft-pds is correct, right?

You should always re-torque your new wheels after driving 50- 100 miles.

Hi There:
I use the 100 ft.lbs. setting as the standard. I just ran across this info. while looking for other data. On page 3-98 of the 2001 s/manual it states to : Tighten the nuts in a criss/cross pattern to 190N-m(140 lb.ft.) I,am thinking it must be a typo error.

Good info, thanks guys, but yep, I think that 140ft-lb is a bit much. I knew most of you knew the torque settings, just wanted to be sure.

It's scary to see how easily the lugnuts' un-screw with only 100 ft-lbs of tq.

Mine don't. I took a wheel off yesterday and they weren't easy. Always torqued to 100 ft lbs.

Yes! That is correct!

I too just experienced this when I re-checked the Torque and was suprised they needed to be re-torqued after the install of the Brake Lines!

It's an easy check, hate to read a post - Wheels fell off @ MPH.....

Thanks,Matt

I also torque all 4 wheels to 100lbs with the wheels "OFF THE GROUND"... not sitting on the ground. I pull the E-brake for the rears, and use my wheel locks for the fronts.

Must be a typo. My 2001 manual on disc states 190N-m(140 lb.ft.)

Hi There:
Thanks 87SAM for the acknowledgement
I appreciate it.
I think the same way you do typo error.
If this was an aircraft tech. manual we would be calling the engineers about this & have them issue a written supplement reflecting the change.
Have good weekend.

What's amazing is... I never see a tire/brake shop use a torque wrench.

They usually use Torque sticks on their air rachets... At least they SHOULD be.

Yes, you have the right torque specs. Good reminder about checking the lugs - normally done after driving about 25 miles or so.
