Default ZR1 Wheels

I would like to buy a set of ZR1 style wheels for my C-5, but I am a little skeptical about the quality. A fellow told me they were all Chinese, and that concerns me. This chap told me that his dealer, a well-known Corvette dealer in Colorado, insisted the quality was good. Does anyone have any experience with the Chinese wheels?

At present my wheels are standard polished C-5 wheels. Unfortunately, they have some surface damage on the inside, possibly the result of being too close to the California coast or maybe from never being cleaned inside the rims. No other such damage exists on the vehicle. Can these marks or scars be polished out?

Thanks for any help.

search the forum for the F14 wheel from D2 autosport, bad *** looking wheel imo and I was going to go with the zr1s but had similar concerns as you do.

Default ZR1 wheels

I have a set of chrome ZR1's. Put them on in March. They still look new and no problems with the install or balancing them. So far so good.

The import wheels (normally chromies) have been around for some time....are usually heavier....but price-wise are the lowest available...Quality?.....depends on to whom you are talking.....Options to you include some high quality America and some imports albeit higher prices....CCW seems to be the most popular on the forum....

Your current wheels are clear coated and this will have to be removed before polishing....There are DIY projects although it's been a while since anyone has posted...might try search feature....

If your heart is stuck on ZR1 repo's then any will meet DOT specs. But there are literally hundreds of quality American made, forged wheels to choose from which will exceed anything from China and can be made to order. I say buy American!!!

I think the flares make the ZR1 wheels more than the wheel itself. Just don't think they would go well with the C5. Hopefully someone will prove me wrong
