Default Help correcting PCV system/install catch can

My 2004 is used. The prior owner took off some of the hoses and vented them to air.

I know this setup is VERY wrong. However, once I bought the car, I purchased a catch can system.

Can you tell me what hoses go to what? Here are some pictures:

The line from the passenger side valve cover goes to the capped off line on the intake manifold (2nd from the top in your pic). The line from the throttle body goes to the line under the intake manifold (2nd from bottom in your pic). Hope that helps!

Ok, so if a catch can is in the mix, what two lines plug into the catch can? BTW, thanks a lot!

I believe the line going to the catch can should be coming from the port under the intake manifold (2nd from bottom connection in your pic)and the line coming out of the catch can should be running to the throttle body (top connection in your pic)

Actually the line from the valve cover goes to the one on the throttle body, it is the fresh air source for the crankcase. The line on the valley cover usually goes to the bottom line on the catch can and the top line of the catch can goes back to the intake manifold. Stock the line from the valve cover goes to the throttle body and the valley cover to the intake.

I had the two sets of lines mixed up in my head.

On a side note, does anyone here have a SIMPLE way, step by step of how to jack up this car? I've bought some jacking pucks, jack stands and two jacks.

I rarely jack up from the sides. But you can do it just fine without pucks if you position the jack so it won't catch the fender. I normally jack up from the rear cradle and from the front with the front cradle then put jack stands under the sides of the cradles.

My car is lowered to the max on stock bolts so i drive up on some homemade wood ramps first to slide the jack under the front. My lowprofile jack will fit fine under the rear. IF you have room slip a 2x4 under there, if not no big deal. I don't use 2x4s unless its a real small jacking pad like on my portable jack.

If you still need pics of how to route a catch can i can take some in a bit, car is under a cover right now but will probably take it out later tonight and can grab some pics if need be.

I think it's plumbed right now. Pictures would make me feel better though.

How much oil should be caught in the can in 3,000 or so miles?

All cars burn a different amount. Depends how hard those 3000 miles were. I had about 1-2 tablespoons after 1000 miles. That's 2-3 trips to the drag strip and 1 day at the road course. When i drive it i'm out to have fun not really used for the daily commute.

Default What is a picture is worth.....

Here's the Ellite instructions ,http://www.eliteengineeringusa.com/i...tructions.html which are identical to CCA/ Mike Norris oil catch cans. As for oil consumption ; agreed that it is strickly up to th individual engine and driving style.
