Obviously, this is going to be a minority opinion, but I really like the silver thin spokes on the car. It is much more toned down than the yellow. It picks up on the lighter shading in the graphics.
Seeing the car on the street, the majority of people are not going to know that the stock wheels on 98 pace car are yellow. In fact the majority of people might even think nice car, but what's with the yellow wheels.
Personally, I appreciate the car both ways, but I think the stock thin spokes give the car a significantly different look, and it's a good look. I wouldn't rush to paint them. Live with them a little while and you will know your own impressions, as well as find out the reactions from a broader cross section of folks.
Here is another opinion. The problem with the painted thin spoke in the e-bay photo is that the barrel is painted yellow also, and that looks funny and not right. If just the face of the thin spoke, and the normal recess area were to be yellow, it would be a more normal and accepted look.
Having the stock Champagne Gold special edition A/E wheels, I too am on the fence about doing something different for a better look wheel-wise, but also want to keep the integrity of the car as it came out of the factory.
If and when you do paint the thin spokes, don't paint the barrels, that's is my opinion.
Sell the car. I'm not a purist but I don't think you should mod Pace Cars. You bought a purple and yellow car and you're bored with the wheels? I was in the factory when I first saw this edition. I never liked them then and you'll never get me to say "paint your wheels yellow."
Keep your stock wheels of course, but I also kind of like the silver wheels. The yellow wheels sort of draw your eye away from the car in a glaring sort of way.
