Late '03 and '04 cars got the pain in the **** fuel system. You might as well forget about changing the fuel filter. The entrance to the tank isn't on the side like earlier years, it's on top which means you have to remove the tank.
My '01 has it's filter outside the fuel tank by the transmission.
