Hello my Monday just got ruined, my z06 has the steering column locked up on the middle of my driveway, It happend once about 5 months ago and haven't thought of it since. The last time I shook the steering wheel somewhat fierce and it worked! Now because its Monday it's being stubborn. I work out of town so I won't need her today (gravel roads) But what's the scoop to this? how do I correct this properly? Thanks.

Probably a tow to the stealership.
I'd try shaking the wheel, pulling a couple of fuses, disconnecting the battery and making sure you have a full charge first.
You've been on this forum for 4 years and still have not installed a CLB?

Once you get it unlocked, you really need to buy and install a Column Lock Bypass. Best $50 you'll spend on the car and you won't have the problem again.

Really, I don't get these guys that have been on this forum for YEARS posting stuff like this. How can they POSSIBLY not have read one of these since there are still 1/2 dozen a week even with the sticky up top.
Usually I would shake the steering column and it would unlock. Well I guess members here jinxed me because it would not unlock shaking it. So I installed CLB took about 20 minutes and now steering wheel is unlocked forever.
When you trun the ignition on, if you hear a whirling (motor running) sound in the steering column, then you don't have CLB. If you do hear something going on in there, , ,,,spend $50 soon.
Cannot tell from your post and lack of info in your profile what year your car is and whether it is a manual or automatic. It makes a difference on whether you need to consider a CLB.
If your car is a 2001 through 2004 Automatic, you are safe and do NOT need a CLB. If it is a 1997 - 2000 automatic or 1997 - 2004 manual
you want a CLB or risk getting stranded by either the column locking on you or the fuel shutoff or both.

I should mention, dont do any GM recalls, just unlock the steering column by jerking the wheel back and forth violently. (be patient it will work) then install CLB from Thunder racing. Done!
