Auto zone is the only place that has pads in stock for my 2004 ZO6.
The guy on the phone said my car did not come with ceramic pads and is the conventional semi metallic 2 pads per rotor.
I'm getting ready to take a trip to Michigan and back and I noticed my brake fluid level is at half and also looks like by kinda looks at the pads from the outside of wheel, the pads need replacing again.
I just replaced pads 2 years ago and have put 30K on the car since. does this sound right or normal?

Depending on your driving habits I would say that is normal, I am lucky to get a year out of pads and rotors but there is four or five track events each year.

Thanks, the rotors still look awesome...
Im always on the brakes hard off the freeway from work everyday.
You can get ceramics from Autozone or whomever. They are not what comes on the Z06. Ceramics came on the regular C5. If you want stock Z06 pads then get them from Gene at www.gmpartshouse.com . Otherwise something like Hawk HPS would be fine. You can get them online pretty fast.
The fluid level drops as the pads wear out. More fluid is needed to fill the calipers. You can just top off the reservoir or do a full bleed while you are swapping out pads. Pretty easy to do.
Thank you. For the longest time I thought my ZO6 came with ceramic pads from the factory.
Good thing I'm going to replace them before I make a 2500 mile round trip. Pads that are on it only have a few miles left. I need them fast so I'm going to pick up a front and rear set of metallic pads at auto zone tomorrow. I get a 10% discount.
Ill put the car up on the lift, change the pads and oil before my trip.
Wagner is having a rebate on pads this month. If you get the Thermo Quiet pads you get $15 rebate on each set. I got mine at Advance Auto. http://www.tqbestforless.com/
Tomseal6, how much pad could you see before you replaced the pads? I just took a front tire/wheel off the car and took a look at the calipers & pads. Unless I not looking at it correctly I can't see much pad. The car only has 12k miles on it so I would think I would be seeing a lot more of brake pad.
I just ordered and installed EBC Red Stuff from Summit Racing and they showed up the next day... fit perfect and good inital bit.. total for both front and rear was $212..

Thoughts (anyone).

You should replace when they get down to 2/32 of an inch.
