sorry to hear that you are having the problems you are. I own an insurance agency and I am a former adjuster. When I was an adjuster, I had the same situations occur, people did not like the thought of aftermarket parts. While there are some aftermarket parts that are inferior, most insurance companies do not use them. We only use aftermarket parts if they are capa certified. Which should mean that they meet or exceed OEM standards. Most companies also use salvage parts, which may or may not be OEM. I do not agree that you should be an A-hole to the adjuster, but if he did what you said he did(hanging up on you) then, call and ask for his supervisor. adjusters have a tough job, but does not give them the right to act an *** to the customer. If you trust the shop it is at, consult with the manager and make sure that the vehicle will be repaired to pre crash standards, that is what you are owed. As to the paint, that is a tricky situation. They have to put you back to the way you were pre crash, but they may not be able to match your original paint due to fading. They likely will not agree to paint the entire car, but you might be able to negotiate with them to paint the whole thing and depreciate it and you pay for the additonal. Look at it this way, if it is done correctly, your paint will look a lot better than it did prior to the crash and you will get an entire paint job for a lot less than you would have paid. Wish I could tell you that acting crazy would get you all that you want, bit it will not, it will likely slow down the process and make it easier for the adjuster to be a hard ***. One last thing, someone mentioned the car being worth less after a crash, while this is true, you can only get compensation for that if the car is less than a year old and has less than 25,000 miles. Keep in mind that what I have said applies only to the company I represent and may not be the same with your company. Good luck and I hoe everything turns out well for you.
You want to pull out you agreement AKA policy with your insurance company look under Section D I believe that is your collision and comprehensive section of your auto policy.
In most states if your car is over 3 years old you will get (USED PARTS). You have also taken the car to the shop of your choice meaning the Insurance company has no control over the workmanship that shop does. If there was a supplement your insurance company would pay for these parts as long as they are accident related.
I also have USAA insurance although most people can not get USAA insurance due to the requirements to become a member. If you have any question Please feel free to contact me.. I have a lot of experience in this field as well.
Also for the people who said USAA does not look at people vs business, they do. They have been rated # 1 for 3 years in a row for customer service. USAA goes above and beyond the call to ensure their members are taken care of. This member took the car to a SOC (Shop of Choice). Since he did that USAA has no power of this shop it is a fact. USAA nor any other insurance will repaint the whole car because of an accident that was not their fault. I bet USAA will waive your deductible if the other person has an active policy. Let me see how many other insurance companies do that..... Geico, State farm, Allstate, progressive and Met life does not...
USAA is a great company... Again feel free to contact me.. I know the USAA agreement by heart... (almost) I read it one too many times...

Most of the thing you said I agree... Although this part is not correct. Your car "Normally" has to be under 100,000 miles and less than 10 years old to receive Diminishing in value. Also your car must have never been in an accident prior to this one. There are some other circumstances that equate the accrual cash value for Diminishing in Value.

Understand your point, but as I said, my facts only apply to the company that I represent. we do not allow diminished value unless the car is less than a year old and under 25,000 miles. Other companies may be different.
Well I just made and updated post to where I am at now...its titled Repair Shop blues.
One more quick note. I found out that the repair shop did something that I believe in my book is a big no no. They had the front end of the car disassembled and dust and welding slag and metal shavings everywhere. Well they had the air cleaner off of my car at the same time and actually cranked and drove the car around there shop with it like this!!!! This has just been a nightmare since day one. I just want my car away from that place and I don't think they deserve anything for constant mistakes and outright disrespect of this corvette!

Driving a car a few feet without an air cleaner is no big deal. You need to calm down and be more reasonable.
LOL I sure wouldnt want you for a customer! You are way over the top with your expectations, relax and let them fix your car.Any issues you have with the repair should be taken up then.

You must work at this place....Let me take off your air cleaner with an engine bay full of grinder dust and metal shavings and drive your car down the side street and to the lot out back with the other vehicles....Oh yeah I will leave it out there unlocked and with no air filter on it as well.
Go over his head to a claim supervisor, depending on your policy and guidelines they need to bring the car back to what it was, adjusters can add what is called a supplement to the initial loss when other things are discoverd or left off of estimate. You do not have to use any special body shop but some are easier for the company(USAA) to pay direct to instead of you paying and having to be paid back from carrier. Keep climbing the USAA ladder until satisfied. I am an agent for 23 years and an insurance company always try to low ball the loss, get another estimate of the damage from a seperate body shop and review it with a USAA claims supervisor and also what the adjuster has done and not done, including hanging up on you. Remember too , they are human, have bad days, and you catch more flys with honey then vinegar. Meaning don't get an attiutde with the guy just go over or around him if he is not working in your best interest.
Lots of good information on here. I've been associated with insurance for over 25 years including a lot of time in adjuster, manager and executive level positions with a premier insurer. All that said I will tell you, you're experience regarding the adjuster's initial attitude and the "quality" of the body shop....does not sound like USAA. They are a premier insurer, who has built an excellent reputation being customer focused. I would give them a ring and explaining your concerns. The terms and conditions of the insurance contract will not change via a call but you can at least insure (no pun intended) someone is looking over the shoulder of the adjuster.
USAA insurance is not mine...the person that pulled in front of me had USAA insurance. Thanks again to everyone and their comments. I really appreiciate all the insight.

USAA is great if they are your insurance company. However, when the other guy is at fault and you deal with USAA they suck. I had the same issue when I was hit in my last SUV. They use substandard parts, I had 3 supplements to the estimate, it took more than 30 days to get my vehicle back and it was never fixed right. USAA even canceled my rental after 30 days. The whole experience was awful. I traded the SUV within a year of the accident, it was never the same.
Moral to the story is never let the other guy's insurance fix your car. Use your company and let them settle it later. You will have far less headaches and your agent will likely go to bat for you.
