OK. So since the back and front tires are different sizes.
Should the tires on each axle be changed side to side after "X" number of miles. And for you math gurus what is a good intiger for "X".
You can and its not a bad idea. I would do it at appx 9k mi. Or halflife. C5s, because of what their spec tow calls for- all wear on the inside edge. Side to side rotation will give you a little more life out of them as that is usually where they expire first. Rebalance every 4500 as the Z Y and W rated tires wear much more quickly than other passanger tires (S T H and V).
This rotation will require dismounting and remounting the tires. I rotate mine side to side every 4500, but I've worked at a tire store 14 years now-so its easy access for me!!
If you have directional tires it simply isnt worth the expense to have your tires dismounted and rebalanced every 4 to 5 thousand miles for the small gain in tire wear.

Nor, for me anyway, is it worth the risk of getting your rims dinged up.

Even if you did a DIY rotation of side to side, wheel and tire, isn't there also the possibility they may need re-balancing, and not only TPS re-programing?
yeh not sure how you guys are able to do it...my Kumho's have a left front, left rear, right front, right rear...I can''t change them side to side or front to rear...definite directionals...from what I have see too...like 80% of the tires for corvette sizes are like this. So you may want to check. I also looked and mine you can't remove and mount on the other side...there is a definite front and back of the tire...not the same face.
Rotational specific direction. The tire was designed to rotate a certain direction.
Easiest way is to dismount tires on front and rotate side to side returning rims to their original position. As the majority of C5 owners have directional tires= this would be my recommendation. Any shop worth its salt will have equipment to prevent the wheels from getting scratched-scuffed. They WILL need rebalancing when finished, but by then- you should have already reached your rebalancing interval- so it won't matter.
And it IS worth the cost of rotating. My shop charges $15 for a mount dismount. Plus 10 more to balance. Road Force with a 9700. (only way to fly) As you would already be at your rebalance interval-that is a wash. With the additional life you will gain out of your tires- now you're back in the black. Rotating the rears is really pointless. Hope this helps. -97C5
So $50 to rotate and balance every 5000 miles.Say your tires last 40,000 miles, that would be $400 in rotations!Where is the savings there? If your tires are cupping or wearing an edge you have a balance or alignment issue, far cheaper and better to address those issues.
