Has anyone else noticed a power drop in hot weather? My Vette with 3.15 gears, auto, etc. usually will absoutly smoke the tires from a dead stop. Today it is about 94 degrees out and I just drove out on a back road for a little spirited o-60 run and the car wouldn't even break the tires loose. I even tried to "power brake" the car to do a burnout and it acted like it had no real power. From about a 10 mile per hour kick down it seemed o.k. but from a dead stop it was a sled! I know heat effects performancebut didn't think this much.
Just wondering, Dave

Hot asphalt and tires grip way better than cold asphalt and cold tires.
For those that don't really understand how much heat can affect your power, I have experienced upwards of 0.5 second difference in 1/4 mile times from the hottest days of the year to the coldest days of the year. That is approximately a 50hp difference.
I am thinking grip is the big difference since he says it runs well after 10mph. But yes ,I also have seen .5 difference just from 80 to 95 degree temps.
O.K. It's confermed, The temp just droped down to about 79 since this morning and it looks like rain comming. I just took the Vette out and now its got the big traction problem again, this morning it wouldn't even break the tires loose and had no real power, now it's my old Vette again! Amazing what a few degrees of temp can do to these ls-1s!
I really thought there was something wrong with the car! Oh well, live and learn.
