Default Under Hood Light

Can someone help me with or refer me to any fixes for a non-working 1997 underhood light?

Thanks
Bruce

Have you checked the connection by the front of the hood, passengers side?

Follow the wire from the light and you'll find the connection by the bottom of the hood. If not, maybe it's as simple as a dead bulb.

Many people disconnect for some goofy reason. Like the other said, check the bulb and the connector between the hood and the body.

Fuse under the foot panel passenger side.

Also check the vanity light on your visor. If if works your fuse is ok. It's on the same circuit as the hood light.

This connection is right on the front firewall and 'Right' where water and dirt can fall on it. I had a hell of a time with my underhood light till I cleaned both sides of the connector and then filled it with Permatex, dielectric tune up grease, #67VR. I also installed the famous "Hood Seal" which really works great at keeping water and dirt from getting into the connector in the first place. I did it two years ago and haven't had any trouble with the underhood light since.

You know this sort of jacks me up.

I would think that is the first thing a guy would check before he posts what's up.

The 1997s take a 212-2 Festoon and the 1998 - 2004s use a Type 561 rigid loop bulb.

Uhmm I really don't think that is what he meant by JACKED UP!

You go to know Vega$ most mellow dude you'll know -

If you have your OWNERS/Manual book in the glovebox all the bulbs are listed in the back section so you will not need to panic when you need to know which bulb your Vette takes

Thanks,Matt

Thanks Matt

I guess irritated would be a better word..

If the lamp was out in you house wouldn't a guy at least check the bulb before he called the electrician out.

Come on guys we are all here to help each other but can you at least put out the effort to check the obvious first?

Glad it was something simple, but it does seem obvious that a check of the bulb would have been the first order of business.
