A friends wife spotted mine at a used car lot on her way home from shopping. Test drove it on a Friday,,hammered out a tentative deal,,brought the CFO out Saturday morning,,took her for a ride,,went in and closed the deal and drove it home. It was the middle of winter,,they were asking about 3k below book,,and talked it down another $1,250!! I was happy with the deal!! Bought it a year ago last January, with 55,500,,now have 71,250,and love'n every minute of it!!

Found mine on e-bay but didn't buy it through. Reserve was higher than my offer, he told me to call him and he accepted my offer right away.

The key, as someone has said, is communication. E-bay is not scary as some people think... make sure you actually talk to the seller on phone. It is very important that you know what the other party is like. E-mail does not tell you crap, keep that in mind.

Try looking at F/S section in forum. If the seller has been on the forum for a while, it's likely a lot of people know him and have seen the car, etc.

Lastly, if the car you're looking at is far away, there are MANY generous members here that are willing to inspect the car if it's in their area.

I found my used vette at a local dealer. It took a while for them to come down on their price, but I guess it was meant to happen.

I searched every source I could find for months before I found the one I purchased. I got it from a local new/used dealer that took this one owner in on trade. It's a loaded 2001 Coupe with just over 50K and in perfect condition, not a single scratch or nick anywhere. Paid just over 16K and love it sofar. Just don't let your emotions control the purchase.

Bought mine yesterday from someone who posted it on craigslist about 30 miles away.

Heres my tips to organize your search:

Sources for used vettes: Ebay, Craigslist, autotrader.com, cars.com, cardomain.com, forum for sale section.

On ebay, autotrader, and cars.com you can create accounts that save your search criteria. Do that, and check it every day.

For craigslist, go to http://www.craigslistnotify.com/ and set up automatic notifications for your search criteria, it emails you when new postings are added without you having to constantly check (although I still did)

Cardomain is cool because it searches a lot of different searches, just search "only cars for sale" from the main page

And of course, the forums here, check em every day! Good luck

Corvettes of Houston. Nice folks, car was IMMACULATE inside and out. 1st class operation.

They did have the perfect Vette for me and I liked the fact that that is what they deal. I really didn't want to buy a Vette parked right next to a Kia Minivan!

I found mine on Craigslist also, you have to be diligent and the timing has to be right, but I've found you can get the best deals on CL. I also found on CL a Ti z06 exhaust for $275 and brand new F&R set D&S Decelarotors for $100!

We got our 02 Z06 on e-bay, my wife wanted a Yellow Vette, so she was looking on e-bay and didn't see anything, so she went to recently ended auctions and found it. It was only 1.5 hrs away, we e-mailed and worked out a deal and went and picked it up.

The 99 FRC I bought off this forum, had is shipped from IL to CA.

I found mine on ebay. I've bought a few and sold some on ebay too. I watched ebay every day for about a year, just waiting for the right one to show up. It finally showed up and I was a very lucky bidder. I knew what I was looking for and just played the waiting game. I couldn't be happier with that purchase.

It was a good way to keep track on the selling prices too.

I got my 2000 NBM coupe from a local GM dealer. It is pretty well loaded with 40000 miles. I didn't steal it, but I got a pretty good deal. I have put 5000 miles on it since Feb. and loved every mile. I plan on taking it to Savannah Ga. in Nov. if there isn't any snow on the roads. I had been looking for over a year and I had just gone through the car wash and it was sitting out front. They only had it for 2 days. Now it is mine.

Best advice I got when looking for a c5 was to buy from vette club member types. Many are fanatics about taking care of car and usually did not dog the car.

I got mine @ Corvettes @ Carlisle in 03. I bought mine from a dealer, Jackson Auto Sales. A good friend bought his in Carlisle from a private owner. The big shows allow you to see all the colors and options. Addtionally, if you plan to modify your car, you can see what other owner have done. There are alot of displays and vendors there as well. Any car show is a good idea. Large or small.

I bought mine new when they were giving them away in the Fall of 04, due to the C6 launch...

Baring another situation like that...

I would go to the for sale section and just park it there. You will find some of the most cared for corvettes on the planet. No matter if you are looking for stock or modified...

Peace
Chip

The '98 triple balck well optioned vert ws purchased through the net. My wife and I flew into Detroit, was then driven to Hamilton where we picked up the car and drove it home to RI. This was the second car I bought over the internet, oddly both were bought in the greater Detroit area.
GOOD LUCK

Bought mine from a dealer that sells high end cars. Merc, BMW, Infiniti.....
They didn't know what they had, I made them an offer of 500 bucks over lowball trade. They took it.
'98, 37K miles, paid 18K in 07.
