Where did you get it?

The key, as someone has said, is communication. E-bay is not scary as some people think... make sure you actually talk to the seller on phone. It is very important that you know what the other party is like. E-mail does not tell you crap, keep that in mind.
Try looking at F/S section in forum. If the seller has been on the forum for a while, it's likely a lot of people know him and have seen the car, etc.
Lastly, if the car you're looking at is far away, there are MANY generous members here that are willing to inspect the car if it's in their area.

Heres my tips to organize your search:
Sources for used vettes: Ebay, Craigslist, autotrader.com, cars.com, cardomain.com, forum for sale section.
On ebay, autotrader, and cars.com you can create accounts that save your search criteria. Do that, and check it every day.
For craigslist, go to http://www.craigslistnotify.com/ and set up automatic notifications for your search criteria, it emails you when new postings are added without you having to constantly check (although I still did)
Cardomain is cool because it searches a lot of different searches, just search "only cars for sale" from the main page
And of course, the forums here, check em every day! Good luck
They did have the perfect Vette for me and I liked the fact that that is what they deal. I really didn't want to buy a Vette parked right next to a Kia Minivan!
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
The 99 FRC I bought off this forum, had is shipped from IL to CA.

It was a good way to keep track on the selling prices too.

Baring another situation like that...
I would go to the for sale section and just park it there. You will find some of the most cared for corvettes on the planet. No matter if you are looking for stock or modified...

Peace
Chip
GOOD LUCK
They didn't know what they had, I made them an offer of 500 bucks over lowball trade. They took it.
