I have an 03 C5Z and i love the car. I am wondering how common is it to have problems with the tranny or diff? I have been told that the diff is weak and will break under very hard launches at the track. How true is this?
Also about how much money would need to be spent to bulletproof the tranny and diff? I am looking to see how much money i need to save up so i never break mine at the track. Any info or advice would be great.

I made 500+ passes at the drag strip in 2 C5Z and never experienced any drive train issue, trannies were perfect, as were the diffs.
The stock clutch is designed to buffer shock to the drive train. Clutch may wear fast but drive train should last a lot of launches...if you go high performance clutch then something else will give out like your axles.
Unfortunately , the animal you seek doesnt exist , thru the vigors of racing , sh#t happens and parts break . However , you can substantuley increase your odds and upgrade to better parts . Stage #5 diffs are around $3500 + , stage #5 trans (with upgrades) about the same . Upgraded clutches are $500 to $1500 + , also upgraded torque tubes , $500 to $2500 + ,and other supporting suspension and driveline mods depending on your needs . For lite modded cars , you can get away with spending very little money and still have a lot of fun, but as told ,the statement " SPEED COST MONEY , HOW FAST DO YOU WANT TO GO ? " will alway hold true !!
