I have a decision to make. I am coming from Pittsburgh on Friday for the entire weekend. It is supposed to rain and storm all weekend in Pittsburgh and rain/storm both Saturday and Sunday in Carlisle. I am thinking about just leaving the Vette home and bring the DD. That way I could bring the kids this year. I will hate leaving the Vette at home. But, I am not really into running it through the mud out there in the Fun Field. So, is it worth it to get the points with the kids and bring them along and keep the Vette safe, clean and dry? How much fun could it be with a convertible(if I bring it) in the rain anyway? Also, more room to bring stuff home with the other car. I was there last year and the weather was beautiful.

Here is the current weather service forecast. As of today the forecast is 40% chance of showers Saturday and Sunday.
This is one of the largest Vette gathering in the country, how can you not drive the Vette. After all it won't melt.
Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
That is what I do not want to happen. I can imagine how soft the fun field will be after all the rain. To get a vet stuck in the mud would really suck.
Somehow for me it is just more fun if I take a Vette. I've taken the DD and it's just not the same.
However, I will admit that the consideration of the kids is a legitimate reason for the DD more so than
the possibility of rain IMHO.
I have my hotel reservation since last August. I've been there for years and remember 2 years ago and the number of Vettes destroyed in the storm, some for sale priced at $100,000+. It was a heartache to see. I too hesitate to bring my truck but don't want new ZR1 chrome wheels and all my mods messed up in the mud. There is very little shelter there from a severe storm.
Decisions, decisions.
