Default What's with these numbers??

Ok, had my 2002 Z dyno'd the other day at MTI before a C1 cam install. With TPIS headers and MTI Ram air it did 360/350 corrected. Then with the cam, off road x pipe, pulley and PCM reprogram it did 385/380. It feels really fast, works great and sounds awesome, but I think my numbers are pretty low compared to most I see here.Btw, stock with 700 miles it did 347/33?. Do I have a bad one or what?? MTI did another 2002 Z and it did 395 with the same mods as mine. It just seems like I am 10 low at every stage of mods including stock. MTi says a/f ratio is good and it's not running rich. Is there anything I can do??

Dale.

Doesn't sound too bad.

Mine dyno'ed at 336 RWHP SAE Corrected with 680 miles bone stock.

Some dyno's give higher numbers. See the numbers in my sig on my last Vette. Dynojets seem to give the lowest numbers.

BTW, my crappy 336 Rwhp pushed the car to a 12.27 ET in 1/4 mile.

How many miles do you have on your 02? When I dynoed mine at 1600 miles, I only had 337hp "stock". When I dynoed again at 13,000 miles it jumped to 367rwhp. Some people say that the Z06s get better numbers after they get 10,000 on them. My car might very well prove that theory.

Ten horsepower is a very small percentage when you are in the 350/400-rear wheel horsepower range. There are many variables that can affect the dyno numbers by that small of an amount.

Thanks. It made +35 ft/lbs more at 3200 rpm (cam, pulley etc VS headers and ram air intake). I thought I might loose some low end power with the big cam, but it makes more power everywhere from 2K on up. Wish I could post the graph. If anyone can post it I can fax it to you.

Thanks,

Dale.

It's EXTREMELY unlikely that your engine would pick up nearly nine percent between 1600 and 13,000 miles. It's more likely one of the many variables associated with dyno testing such as dyno calibration, accuracy of weather data and correction factors, etc.

You have to take these numbers with a grain of salt and expect a variation of ten horsepower (about three percent) to be normal.

A nearly ten percent variation indicates either an engine problem, a testing error or a test equipment problem. The first thing to look at is whether the data is "corrected" to the same conditons. There are at least a couple of different "SAE standard conditions" that can be used.

Ok, well I spent some time onthe "other" forum this morning. If Haltech is making 385 RWHP with a few bolt ons, then I want more!!! Is there anything he could do for me? Bigger injectors etc..?

Thanks,

Dale.

Nothing changed, we just made three pulls - each was about 5 mins apart..

Yes I am planning to do that eventually. I am not sure how long the stock clutch will last under the new found power though. I guess by admiting that as a concern I am saying that the car feels strong and it does. I know I am getting caught up on the numbers, but I can't help it.....:(
