Default Brake Pads

I need new brake pads on my vette... Should I go back with the OEM pads or what? Also, is there anyone who can recommend a good place to have this done on the north side of Houston, TX?

I really like the Hawk HPS pads for a daily driven street car. Less dust than the OEM pads, no squeal and great stopping.

I put on ceramics from Gene Culley. Little less stopping power but much cleaner and a little quieter.

Hawk HPS pads are GREAT ! Little dusting and stop better than ZO6 pads. I have had stock C5 pads (too much dust) and GM Ceramics (very little white dust but stop poorly (more force) and they warped my rotors). HAWK HPS are GREAT !

I agree with the Hawk HPS. Quet and very little dust.

I ran Hawk HPS pads on mine too. I liked them a lot. You might check with Corvettes of Houston for the install.

Hawk HPS were on mine when I got it 9 months ago,I like them just fine-excellent stopping power, some dust, but nothing I can't live with.
No fade on the curvy mountain roads, and I HAVE put them to the test...
Got a fresh set to install when these finally wear out,but it looks like that's going to take awhile -

I had my mechanic put on Power Slot Rotors and Hawk HPS pads 10 days ago (2002 coupe with Z06 wheels/tires). Car drives great on the street; brake dust about the same as OEM. Stopping power on the Summit Point main track last Tuesday was terrific (we only do about five track days per year). No fade all day. Brake dust was acceptable (cleans off easy). As they wear I'm hoping this combination will last longer and fade less at a track day than OEM brakes (which for me did pretty well). CorvetteGuys.com has excellent pricing on Hawk Pads (and Power Slot Rotors).

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. Bobcat 1521™ compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.
