Default Tire depth

Hi

What is the tire depth of a new goodyear runflat (approx)>

Also is it true that a 6 yr old tire is at it's end of life safety?

Thanks

Alan

10/32" front, 11/32" rear

6 years may not really be end of life but they do get harder and not stick to the road like the once did.

Default Todays Parts for sale listing

Hi

In todays parts for sale there was a listing for 4 tires with 13,000 easy miles for $250 with 8/32 on all 4.

Just didn't make sense to me.

If you ever want to know what the original tread depth of various tires is, just go to the Tire Rack web site - they list the specs on the brands they carry.

If the tread depth is true and you’re not one to really push your car hard in the corners, that’s not really a bad deal. They would get you by for awhile. Also figure $100 to have them mounted and balanced.

Hi

I just heard back from the seller;

These are Goodyear Eagle F1

Front P245 40ZR17
Rear P245 40ZR18

The best I could measure on the depth is 7-8/32nds

Not repaired. Picture attached.

Asking $250

The pic was way too small and when l enlarged the pic it was blurry.

The sizes were wrong ???? Strange unless he used them for something other then normal driving.

The orig tires are 10/32 and 11/32 depth according to Tire Rack so if it's 7/32 l could get 10,000 miles??

How does that sound.

I'm going to pick up a tire depth meter to check out my tires which do not look bad at all.

The age issue notwithstanding, I got stuck on the tread depth when I listed my old tires.

I looked up the "new tire" depth, subtracted my then current depth and mistakenly deduced that they had x% life left.

Just realize that the useable tread depth is not zero. Although I dont know the number for those tires, there is one, so you would probably only want to wear them from what they are now until the safe tread depth.

Good luck

And, they're runflats so I guess the issue from a "hard" tire letting go is less of a problem, but I'd consider before putting six year old tires on my car due to the (although infrequent) tendency to exercise them once in a while. YMMV
