They are both on the same fuse, that would be the first thing I checked. If the fuse is good, there are known issues with the tail/brake lights caused by a problem in the hazard switch or turn signal stalk.

The owner's manual will have the exact fuse locations, there is more than one fuse box. Also, inside the fuse box cover there are abbreviations to denote which is which. I would look first at the box adjacent to the battery.
Try the #6 fuse in the passenger toe kick fuse box. Remove the toe kick pannel and the fuse box is on the right. The BCM (Body Controle Moule) is on the left. Don't mess with it. Fuse locations are mapped inside the lid. It's a 10A. You should have some spare fuses as well as a puller in the fuse box under the hood.
