Default Good octane booster?

Whats the best octane booster out there? Where I live premium gas is 91 octane and now that Im boosting I would be alot more comfortable with higher octane fuel. There is a place that sales 105 octane nearby too if that would be a better option.

I wouldn't advise using 105 octane. That is getting very close to aviation fuel.

I've only used an octane booster once, & it was when I went to the track. My knock sensor never kicked in, but it normally doesn't anyway, so I can't say if it worked or didn't. It was the off-road stuff from NOS in a black box.......

Unless you're boosting or planning to tune for higher octane levels, I'd say don't use any. Your computer tunes itself for which ever gas you're using, but it isn't always instant. If you've been driving on 91 for a while, you're best immediate results will come from 91. More of a waste to step up your octane otherwise. Usually takes about 40 min for a computer to fully tune itself to the gas you're using if it's different from the norm.

Too much octane will reduce your power/torque.

Well, at least you have 91. Alaska only sees fit to offer 90.

104+ Octane booster was the best brand that I used on a turbocharged 500+hp car I had years ago...it truly raises the octane by 3-4 points on a full tank. However; that stuff had a tendency to leave an orange residue on the inside of the exhaust, so that could conceivably mess with O2 sensors, etc.

Yep loveland and foco pretty much touch. Traffic is really heavy around here to. Not enough roads for the population.

I like the 104+ also. I used to run it often in my older hot rods where the carbuerator and as much timing advance as you could get was king. It took away the spark knock for sure. I use a bottle every now and then now in my Vettes, but I really cant tell much of a difference either way. Old habits are hard to break I guess :o

You may want to tune for and run E85 then. There's 68 E85 stations as far as I know in CO.

Tuning for E85 will give you more room to boost and E85 is 105 Octane.

Usually just tuning without more boost on E85 will yield 20RWHP for F/I cars. But because E85 burns cooler, you can run more boost safely.

That's what I'd do if I had an E85 station near me. But CA doesn't have very many E85 stations.

I would not use octane boost. It WILL burn up the cats. There is a in depth article in Corvette Enthusiast magazine. If you are not running cats, I guess it does not matter.

Torco is the best octane booster on the market.. Hands down. You have to order it from a distributor... One of our forum members is a distributor.. The stuff in the store is crap.. Lucas Octane Booster is the best of store bought brands. Like I said most of them are crap, You get what you pay for

I wouldn't waste my $ on OB's,but one thing I do on all my rods is to run a can of BG44k in the gas every 3k miles or so.

It's a strong cleaner and does a good job of fuel system cleaning and I find my cars run better when they are running cleaner.Cost about $15 a can.

Most octane booster will damage your 02 sensors and your cats.
As far as 105octane fuel goes, it will not hurt and it's not close to aviation fuel, hell I know people running 116 in their cars. Most of the 100+ fuels have lead though so if you use them you will be replacing your 02 sensors pretty regularly (like less than 5000 miles) and your cats if you have them.

Aviation fuel is between 100 and 110 octane.

Aviation fuel also has an additive though that prevents it from freezing at high altitude!
