I'm getting ready to puchase my first vette an I've decided to go with a c5 coupe. One of the cars I'm looking at only has the glass roof panel and I have thought that I really wouldn't want that set-up because I don't like the sun coming in all the time. Either I want the sun all the way (panel removed) or don't want it at all. I really like the car otherwise but the roof panel issue is holding me back. Any thoughts?

Buy a solid roof panel on ebay. I did that when I had a C5. If you really like the car you found and the deal is good, don't let that hold you back. You can find a solid roof somewhere. I got a brand new one a few years ago for $300. Guy had the C5 with BOTH tops and never used the solid one and finally decide to get rid of it..
that shouldn't be the determining factor in deciding to pass up a good deal. there are too many ways (and people)waiting to provide you with a solid roof if that's your choice.
it's like saying you're going to pass on your dream house, that's a fantastic deal because the 3rd bathroom is 1 foot shorter than you would like it.
Don't pass up a good car for this minor fix. I do, however, agree with your thoughts about the sun through the roof. It can be annoying at times. Good luck. I have both and use the solid unit most often.
