Default Replacing Water Pump DIY? Pointers?

I'm going to try and tackle replacing the water pump on my Z this weekend. Anyone have any suggestions or advice to avoid any possible pitfalls?

Thank you CF

I just watched my neighbor do this on my 02 coupe. Took him all of 30 minutes. its not very hard at all.

1. remove the air cleaner intake duct
2. remove accessory drive
3. disconnect the hoses from water pump
4. remove the water pump bolts, 6 of them
5. remove the water pump gaskets, mine were metal so no scrapping needed
6. reverse the steps, and fill back up your radiator with dex cool.

7. drink a beer. oh hell, drink a beer between every step.

good luck.

i have pictures i can email you if you need them.

Don't forget to burp the system. Leave the cap off and squeezing the hoses helps. This will get air out of the system.

Air block will not let coolant get to the T-stat and the stat will not open.

is there a mileage range where the pump should be replaced - assuming it is not leaking?

It's pretty simple nut and bolt stuff if you can turn a wrench. Mine went out at 45k.
