OK, I'm not sure if this is related at all to the CLB install I did, but lately every maybe 3rd or 4th time I start the car, I get a DIC message that says "Service Traction / Handling" or something to that nature and my traction control light comes on. I turn the car off and turn it back on and the message disappears and the light goes off... Any idea what this is?
ignition on, (do not strat car) push option button and hold, push fuel 4 times and diagnostics codes will start to display.
Have some one there to write them down as you read them out, it is fast....
You can hit OPTION after it stars the list,,and it puts the codes in "MANUAL MODE" and use options to go down the list,,or trip(I think) to go back up the list. It will show the initials and the # of codes,,,to see the code push the Gauges button and it displays the codes for that station. That way you don't have to be in a race with the computer to write them down!! The computer ALWAYS wins!!

So I'm not sure what this means for my traction control/handling system. I have no clue why it's doing this but it's doing it a LOT now. Pretty much 4/5 times I drive the car it does this. I'm guessing I have some serious electrical problems.
I would first clear all the codes and see what comes back. Also be sure the battery/charging system is up to snuff. The C1287 and C1288 are the traction/active handling codes.
OK.. yeah. When I do see the message, I turn the car off, turn it back on, and it doesn't come on again until the next time I park it and it sits for a little while.
I'm going to clear the codes and check the grounds as mentioned today. Before I bought the car, it sat in a garage covered for over 3 years. It was only driven once a week around the block to keep things up on it. So I don't know what the chances are for corrosion, but it's always good to check.
I also had a series of multiple codes and a problem with the passenger window/lock. I finally cleaned the ground connectors under the hood and cleared the codes. So far, none have come back yet.
See C5 Tech, electrical sticky. It is well written.
I have a 1997 Corvette was getting Abs and traction control problem. There are sensors on front wheels took them apart and cleaned them.No codes since knock on wood.Maybe somebody could explain this better.
Well, no codes have come up. I messed with the ground on the driver's side behind the headlight a few days ago (didn't even really clean it) and since I've had no issues. I think I'm going to go around my car and clean all the grounds. My door locks are both having issues... I have to hit unlock a few times sometimes to get it to unlock. I assume this could also be corroded grounds as well. It does this with both the fob and the door lock buttons.
Look at the boot area in the drivers door opening. You may have a frayed wire seems to be a common problem over time. Do a quick search in C5 Gen there are a few good picture posts on this issue.
Well, I went through G101 and G102 and made sure they had good contact with the frame. Neither had any corrosion and I still cleaned out the connections. I'm still getting the ABS/Traction Control failures and it's happening every time I drive. The only codes coming up are the TCS codes (1287 and 1288). No other codes being thrown.
