Default Weird issue after CLB install

OK, I'm not sure if this is related at all to the CLB install I did, but lately every maybe 3rd or 4th time I start the car, I get a DIC message that says "Service Traction / Handling" or something to that nature and my traction control light comes on. I turn the car off and turn it back on and the message disappears and the light goes off... Any idea what this is?

Check your Codes and get back to us.

ignition on, (do not strat car) push option button and hold, push fuel 4 times and diagnostics codes will start to display.

Have some one there to write them down as you read them out, it is fast....

You can hit OPTION after it stars the list,,and it puts the codes in "MANUAL MODE" and use options to go down the list,,or trip(I think) to go back up the list. It will show the initials and the # of codes,,,to see the code push the Gauges button and it displays the codes for that station. That way you don't have to be in a race with the computer to write them down!! The computer ALWAYS wins!!

Cool. I'll try that as soon as it cools down outside.

OK. I finally got around to getting the codes. They all are marked with History. I assume I should be deleting them as I go.

I don't know which ones would affect this problem and which ones were fixed:

28-TCS C1287
28-TCS C1288
60-IPC U1160
60-IPC U1088
80-RADIO U1016
80-RADIO U1064
80-RADIO U1096
A0-LDCM B2282
A0-LDCM B2284
A0-LDCM U1064
A1-RDCM B2283
A1-RDCM B2285
A1-RDCM U1064

So here's what that comes out to that I've found:

C1287 Steering Sensor Rate Malfunction
C1288 Steering Sensor Circuit Malfunction
U1160 Loss of Communications with LDCM
U1064 Loss of Communications with BCM
U1088 Loss of Communications with SDM
U1016 Loss of Communications with PCM
U1096 Loss of Communications with IPC
B2282 Battery #1 Fault
B2284 Battery #2 Fault
B2283 Battery #1 Fault
B2285 Battery #2 Fault

So I'm not sure what this means for my traction control/handling system. I have no clue why it's doing this but it's doing it a LOT now. Pretty much 4/5 times I drive the car it does this. I'm guessing I have some serious electrical problems.

Can someone help?

I would first clear all the codes and see what comes back. Also be sure the battery/charging system is up to snuff. The C1287 and C1288 are the traction/active handling codes.

Some times when you get a bunch of codes all at once it is due to a bad ground.

OK.. yeah. When I do see the message, I turn the car off, turn it back on, and it doesn't come on again until the next time I park it and it sits for a little while.

I'm going to clear the codes and check the grounds as mentioned today. Before I bought the car, it sat in a garage covered for over 3 years. It was only driven once a week around the block to keep things up on it. So I don't know what the chances are for corrosion, but it's always good to check.

I also had a series of multiple codes and a problem with the passenger window/lock. I finally cleaned the ground connectors under the hood and cleared the codes. So far, none have come back yet.

See C5 Tech, electrical sticky. It is well written.

Good luck.

If all fails check and clean the ignition switch. I had similar errors and it was the ignition.

Well, no codes have come up. I messed with the ground on the driver's side behind the headlight a few days ago (didn't even really clean it) and since I've had no issues. I think I'm going to go around my car and clean all the grounds. My door locks are both having issues... I have to hit unlock a few times sometimes to get it to unlock. I assume this could also be corroded grounds as well. It does this with both the fob and the door lock buttons.

Look at the boot area in the drivers door opening. You may have a frayed wire seems to be a common problem over time. Do a quick search in C5 Gen there are a few good picture posts on this issue.

Well, I went through G101 and G102 and made sure they had good contact with the frame. Neither had any corrosion and I still cleaned out the connections. I'm still getting the ABS/Traction Control failures and it's happening every time I drive. The only codes coming up are the TCS codes (1287 and 1288). No other codes being thrown.

Anyone have any ideas what else it could be?

Is your steering wheel center? If so, you probably have a bad steering angle switch. had mine replaced a few years ago.

Center? Like aligned right? I believe so. The car doesn't drift either direction and the steering seems perfect.

Where's the angle switch and how hard is it to replace?

I'm not finding much on here about the SWPS... I'd like to try and track it down to test it.

Anyone know of a way to see if it's still any good?
