Default Trans Detent bolt remove

I know about the anti-venom mod and I like it.What would happen if you just removed it and just plugged the hole with a flat bolt?

Just curious.

I am not a transmission expert. But I distinctly recall threads from the past (search in C5 Tech) in which people who do know the C5 TREMEC advised against this.

The detent is necessary for the transmission performance (regardless of the shifter). Without it, shifting will be overly sloppy. Shimming it slightly is one thing, removing it entirely will probably prematurely wear out components in the transmission.

It's your car...

Most likely, your shifter will repeatedly pop out of gear. Some have reported this when aggressively shimming the detent.
