Hi Guys,
Looking to R&R the stock LS6 valve springs as a preventative measure. My car is a very early build 2002 (August 2001) car. After researching this, I found that these cars are the most susceptible to the broken valve spring issue.
I did a search and concluded that using PAC springs or stock LS2 springs would be the best choice. Would it be a good idea to go with titanium retainers and better push rods while I'm at it? If so, any suggetions on brands to use? Any other shared experiences in regards to this would be appreciated. I'm going to shop this job around the local performance shops. Any idea what kind of ball park price (non-dealership) this would get?
Any input on this would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Being that you have used Dr. Phil before? I would think that he could steer you in the right direction in the things that you are concerned with. I was under the impression that the bad batches of springs were in the late model builds of 02 and early builds of 03, LS 6 springs? I too, have concerns w/my LS 6 springs as my 03 was built in july of 02, and I purchased it new in Dec of 02. Maybe Phil can do both cars, and give us a better deal? I'm located at the I/94 &I275 area. From what I have heard, he is a very busy man. Good luck.

Dr. Phil is my first and also the best choice.
I'll be contacting him tomorrow.
Just want some other opinions on this.

If you have raced your car, or hit your rev limiter a few times, it would be a good idea , I would think to have the push rods changed out at the same time. This would be the case in the work that I'd like like to have done.
Definetly change the push rods. I've never heard of any bad push rods out there, I used the Comp Hi-tech 7.4" rods and they've been working fine. The Ti retainers are nice if you have some extra cash laying around that you don't know what to do with, but unless you're racing they're not really necessary. You do want to pick up a set of new retainers clips and viton valve seals while you're at it. (Cheap insurance in both cases)
yea i too have been considering changing the valve springs. built 3/02 w/32k miles i feel its at pretty high risk for spring failure. since i plan on doing a cam sometime in the future, i will probly go with a dual setup with pushrods for now.
