Replace or repair door panel
I live on the eastside of Seattle.
On getting 3 quotes from area body shops, including Evergreen, McLeods, and Queen City, 1 quoted repairing the door panel, while the other 2 replaced it.
Is repairing vs. replacing have any downside other than the fact that you know your baby has a bandage rather than a full restoral? Any other comments regarding the above 3? I probably don't have to say which one was the highest bid.
If the door skin is just punctured, I'd repair. If the hit was substancial, look to the door frame for stress cracks. If there are cracks you should replace.
Other benefit to repair is not having to remove and realign the hinges, stcker and window to weatherstrip. Also no need to remove the speaker and window motor.
Paint wise, if it is a repair, shop may not have to paint color to the door frame and jams, knowing the color, they will probably have to blend onto the quarter, fender and rocker.
Thanks for the reply.
