Just got my 01 z06 this week, and everything was fine on the 500 mile trip home. Stopped several times and no issues. Got the car home and cleaned it, and locked in the garage. Today two days later I went just to do a check to see if anything was leaking etc, etc, noticed something under the car that I think is nothing, but when I got in the car to back it out the service traction control/selective handling , and the service ABS lights came on. Tried to turn the active handling button on and off but would not respond. Also decided I would go out and just give the car enough gas to see if the traction control was working, it was not the car went all over the place in 1st and 2nd. Shut it down parked it in the garage and turned the car off for 15 minutes started it back up again all service lights were off I had turned the car off and then back on several times when I first found the issue but the lights stayed on now they are off and active handling is responding per the info center haven't tried in real life scenerio. Is this common or anyone else had this happen. The guy I bought it from says he never had any issues. Pleas help very concerned.
One of three possibilities. First, have your battery checked out. A mildly defective battery that has low voltage after sitting just a few days will cause all kinds of erratic electrical problems like you wouldn't believe. I had a low battery when my car hadn't been used for awhile when I was doing some mods to it. When I tried to start it up there was lights lighting up like a christmas tree, relays buzzing and all sorts of weir d things happening. Shut it off, charged the battery and the next time everything was back to normal. Second, if you are having ABS and traction problems you can have a bad ground somewhere. Grounds are very critical in plastic body cars. There is one on the left frame rail right behind the headlight motor that affects the ABS module. Trying cleaning it and see if it helps your situation. Third, your ABS module can be going bad. You can still drive your car but those functions won't work. Be careful driving. You can contact www.absfixer.com for further info. If you go to a dealer you won't believe what it will cost. Mine was replaced under warranty but the dealer told me the part was way more than a thousand dollars, not including labor.
I'm having this exact problem. Interestingly enough, I don't have to turn the car off and wait for a few to turn it back on... I can actually turn the car off, and back on immediately and the problem goes away temporarily. I'm thinking it's the battery now because if the car sits longer than 20 minutes, this problem will happen.
