Default Random Clay bar question

While cleaning out the closet this morning, I found a pack of Zaino clay bars that I had never used. They are still in the little white Zaino tub and sealed in the plastic. From what I can tell, I purchased them almost five years ago. Does anyone know if they are still good? I assume they are since they are still sealed in plastic, but I don't want to risk ANYTHING on my Vette.

Also, I still have some of the Z2, Z4, and Z6 left from that original purchase. Is that still good. It was so long ago, I have no problem throwing it away and ordering more. Just wondering. Thanks!

I doubt claybars are fast movers throught the parts stores or warehouses so who only knows when it was manufactured? It could have been a couple of years old already. If it will soften and is pliable, there is nothing in it that can spoil.

Send a message to ZAINO...they're the best source to ask. If they've been sealed up for all that time w/o air, I'd bet they're still just fine. I doubt they have any chemicals in them to break down. Are they still soft and pliable?

Now as to the other products, I don't know. I recall reading something a few years ago about aging of some ZAINO products and/or concern about freezing during the winter. Maybe the chemical composition breaks down over time? I need to check my ZAINO now. I usually just shake them up real good periodically, but that might not be enough.

I would assume the clay is good if it's still pliable.
The sealants are beyond their recommended expiration dates.
Also if they are not the pro versions you will benefit from fresh products.
Maybe try them on a different vehicle?

Here you go.

Q: What is the usable shelf life of Zaino products?

A: A 70° room temperature is best for the longevity of Zaino products. Due to the optical additives used, extreme heat or cold can result in a decrease in gloss-enhancing properties.

When stored at average room temperature between 65° and 75° degrees, shelf life is as follows:
Z-PC 3+ years
Z-AIO 3+ years
Z-CS 5+ years
Z-1 For optimum results, use before 3 years.
Z-2 For optimum results, use before 3 years.
Z-3 For optimum results, use before 3 years.
Z-5 For optimum results, use before 3 years.
Z-6 5+ years
Z-7 5+ years
Z-8 5+ years
Z-9 5+ years
Z-10 For optimum results, use before 2 years.
Z-12 For optimum results, use before 2 years.
Z-14 For optimum results, use before 2 years.
Z-16 3 to 5 years
Z-18 5 years +
ZFX For optimum results, keep tightly capped, avoiding moisture. Use before 24 months.

Thanks, guys. The clay bars still seem just as pliable as my newer ones, so I'll probably hang on to those. Sounds like I should pitch the Zaino, though, and reorder. Oh well, it's only money.

I would assume the clay bar is still good. Looks like it is time to get a new supply of the other Zaino products though.
