A fellow corvette owner is our club is having trouble with the underhood light on his 98 coupe. Where is the fuse for this light? I checked my 03 box and did not see a specific fuse for that light. I am assuming it is on the circuit with something else. Anybody know? Thanks

The only reference I could find to the underhood lamp is mini fuse 2. This is for the inadvertant load control monitor that times out the underhood lamp along with the glovebox light, courtesy lights and the rear view mirror lights after 15 minutes if any are accidentally left on. Worth a shot.

You may want to also trace the wire harness for that light that comes off the front of the passenger side of the hood down into the radiator shroud where there is a connector that harness is supposed to connect to. Many folks like myself unplug that light so it doesn't draw from the battery while working on the car or at shows. It times out in 15 minutes but can reset and is annoying when it does. Make sure that connector is hooked to it's mate.

Thanks sir. We know it is connected. Just will not come on. Will try some fuses. I have read maybe #2 or maybe #6. Will give those a try first. Thanks for the diagram.
i know this is dumb to ask, but did you ever consider the bulb to be bad?? try taking a meter to the bulb contacts right after you open the hood to see. it might just save you loads of grief in the long run. if the interior lights work and time off and the mirror lights do the same, it isn't the timer. checking the bulb first would be the easiest place to start.

yes, but did you check the bulb receiver?? the socket could be bad (remember it's inside the hood and subject to a certain amount of road exposures). not trying to be a wise guy, but just hoping to point you to the simplest of paths to check. easy enough to see if there is current to it with a meter. if not, find the connector and see if there is current to the connector on either side. if not, at least you know you need to go backwards from there. another thing to look for is a worn spot on the harness that might have severed a wire. just hoping to help.

Oh ok I see what you mean. I am relaying all this to the friend who is trying to troubleshoot. Will check with him and see if he has access to a meter. Thanks for your input.
I have the same problem on my 2002. Underhood Light doesn't come on.
New bulb; all connections good--check with volt meter and no open circuit--also checked at bulb receiver. Any suggestions???Probablu something simple--it usually is but I can't find it. Lights time off inside car and I don't see a fuse for the underhood light. HELP! This is driving me nuts.
Hope this helps someone else. I figured it out--should have known because it has happened to me before with my 1971 vet with TI ignition. Pull apart all the connections and look at them--they become corroded. The lower connection by the radiator sit vertical so it allows water/moisture in. Pulled it apart, cleaned it up and now it works fine!! Hope this post saves someone else some time and effort.
