Why not just fix the Reverse Lock out??? The solenoid assy list price is about $170.00. You should be able to get one from Gene for less than the cost of a shifter or other mod. I was able to change mine in about 15 minutes with the Z16 on a four post. One electrical connector and one bolt...
I'm not a Corvette expert as most of you are, but I've owned a Ferrari 308 GTSI (loud and slow, but beautiful, with big bit*h repair bills - never again for me!), and my neighbor has a low kilometer, 82 Lamborghini Countach S. Gated shifters. Both slow to shift. Fine for cruising, but performance, not in my findings. In fact, if I were wanting performance (or avoid embarrassment on the street), I'd avoid a gated shifter, personally. Sure, they look great, but in reality, I'd stick with whatever is the fastest, smoothest, shortest throw I could find. I do, however, really like the look of the shifter plate produced by Double D Mods (thread link posted above), which is an older 2009 post, but has a sharp look to it.
