If you lose or misplace your locking lug nut socket how can you get a new one for your car?

Sure it's your car....

That's what they all say.

No help but good luck.

If you have the all of the original paperwork that came with the Vette, there should be a card from the manuf. of the lug nuts (Amcor) with the ID# of the key. It will inform you how or order a new key.

http://www.amcorlocks.com/order.htm

Anyway, my 2000 came with it.

Good luck,
Don

I believe that dealers have all the keys, now what they will charge . . .

Any garage can remove a locking key lug nut, they have equipment.

Drive a socket on it and take it off. It's what a thief would do. I still have mine on but they really are worthless.

Dino's tire and wheel in Tulsa had a whole box of the keys. They let me try them till I found the one that fit. I took them off and put regular lug nuts back on. I think I gave them $5,00 for their trouble.

That's exactly why I got rid of mine,,,just not worth having them on when they are relatively easy to remove.

You could look at z06hellcat's shop, not find it until a local car shop did the above and then find it later! I will never use them again!

The locks with a special socket in the end are MUCH more secure. Just remember to be careful when torquing and removing these. NEVER use a powered wrench. If you break off the socket or loose the key, they are hard to get off.

Sears sells "easy outs" for lug locks, they work good on locks with external "ribs", but won't work on hardened/round "socket in the end" type locks. Hammering a socket on works for the locks with external "ribs" also.

yup, mine was missing and if you don't have the card that identifies the number, like me, I sent them head on pics of the nut and they identified it from that...

Grab a socket, put it on your lug nut and beat it on there. Then back it off. Throw socket and lug in garbarge. BAM. DONE.

Hopefully you have the card - it makes it so much easier. Otherwise, you might check with a Chevy dealer or a tire store and see if they have a key that will work with the locks.

I've done this on a couple other (non-vette) cars. Just use a half-decent socket that's larger than the lug and pound it on. Bada-bing! Off it comes...
