I have noticed that I have a big rust spot on my driver door speaker cover. Could this be coming from around the window? I have the 50th ann. shale/neutral interior and it looks awful with this spot!
Can just the cover be taken off, or is it part of the whole door panel?
You have to remove the door panel to remove the speaker cover. Take it off, clean it off well with a brush if required, use some rust remover or sealer, then paint over it and hopefully it will be good as new.

That is only half the problem...if your speaker grills are rusting you are either getting water dripping down your window mechanism, or you live near the salt water and the mist is entering your car. My grills are 12 years old and are perfect inside and out. As far as paint, just find a good matching Duplicolor rattle can and shoot them after removal...the screens are steel so correct prep is needed.

Or you wear shorts a lot and rest your leg against the driver's door
Here in Florida, where we sweat a lot, the combination of damp legs and shorts is what rusts the speaker grille. Brush it off good and spray with satin black. If you are careful no removal or masking is necessary. Mine lasts about a year.
