I plug my Valentine 1 radar detector into my dash cigarette lighter and I have to turn it on and off after stopping the engine? In my other cars when I switch off the engine, it also switches off the detector and presumably the lighter circuit.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to plug in my detector to a power source which switches off when I switch off the engine?
Um.......................OK HOW does it plug into my (C5Z06) mirror?
If you have questions, please PM me here or email me at sales AT invisicord.com. Hopefully you find that the Invisicord fits the bill as the others have recommended!
Under the right side foot well there is a plug with three wires coming out of it that is there for the purpose of wiring in accessories. One is the ground and the other two are for whether or not you want the added-on accessory to be hot all the time or turn on/off with the key. Just hardwire your detector into that wiring and it will solve your problem for free. Run the wires inside the headliner and down the right side pillar and they'll come out under the dash and you can then route them down to the footwell. You have to do a little searching becasuse they're not that obvious but they come out by the fuse block under the floor.
Dont waste your money, there is absolutely ZERO need to purchase anything for this mod. If you have any sort of common sense/tech savvy this will take you less than 5 minutes to install. It's pretty simple, find a picture of the setup (all over the place), find an old telephone cord in your house, strip that mug, plug and play! I did the exact same thing with my V1, haven't had a problem yet.

Yes you can make your own, but many people over the years like the simplicity of just ordering a cord instead of locating a black one somewhere, and trying to make their own. Also, many households are completely doing away with land lines, which means no more phone cord.
I bought an invisacord and could not get it to stay in correctly and thought it was a PITA to instal. I thought it was easier just to hard wire my V1 into the foot well, and it works perfect.
