I think that is going to be a tad difficult.

It seems some late production 2003 models may also be affected.

At least at the site we can bring this very serious condition to the attention of someone who can force GM to step up and correct it!

Checked my mail and there was a 3yr 36k mile card for oil changes,,,,

since this dealer charges me 98 dollars for an oil change i figured i would be visiting a different dealer and use the card for all its worth ,,,, i guess at 36000 thats at least 7 oil changes.....

I will be exploring the possibility of emissions end of this thing as well

AND AND AND

SO................... guess who called today ????

DOT

asked for my entire file,,,, and photos of the tank,,,, and asked if i would be willing to donate the tank to their research facility....

Now we're having some fun !

I have the DOT agent's email address and phone #s

he asked that who ever has has this similar issue please fill out the HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV form and leave an email and or phone #

this includes all who have had this issue fixed under warrantee. If there is a way to put this request on the web login page it would help those of us who have had the bad luck of having it happen just after the warantee ran out...

rnengnr and company -- thanks for fighting the fight!! I have a 2004 but I only have 7K miles on it. I hope they take this problem seriously and fix the damn problem before it becomes a major (and potentially fatal) issue. I'll stay in touch with this thread to see where it goes.

Thanks again!

if you stick yur hand rite under the car where you sit,,,, touch the metal just behind it and you hand smells like fuel,,, you can bet thats whats starting....

I filed just this week and got a call yesterday from someone at the DOT.
That is amazing response time if you ask me.
Unfortunately he caught me at a bad time and I asked him to call back.
I'll let you know.
