I don't mind the Jake thing but I wouldn't put anything of the sort on my car. Well I wouldn't put any decal at all on my car, kind of a "leave it how it came" guy when it comes to that stuff.
I see it as a 6-C thing so based on that i can't relate to it but for the C-6R I get it and I assume if I had a c-6 I'd do the hat and tshirt but I don't put stickers on the car.
I guess I'm old, I really don't like any kind of skulls or any of the Ed Hardy looks. I can live with the flaming dragons and really like the old school Rat Fink graphics.
If there was a non-emblem version of this car, I'd buy it A few more of the current ones on the car and there is no need for a paint job. I already know what I drive, not old enough for Alzheimer's to kick in. With that said, why the hell would anyone want to add more emblems to this overemblemed car? Each to their own, good for Harley crowd I suppose...
But my pet peeve is only as long as it's generation specific. The C5 jake on a C5 and the C6 jake on a C6. I understand though that the C5 jake can be hard to find sometimes.
I like it, and have thought about getting a small one to put on the top middle part of my window. I have a small bowtie there now. I am about chevy racing not so much only corvette racing. I have always seen it as a little cheesy. Probably because that movie the punisher was cheesy.
It really is a Corvette Racing symbol or more of their mascot. It just so happens that Corvette Racing is the C6-R. So the way I look at it, is if you have a Jake on your vette, you are supporting Corvette Racing.
There never was a true C5 Jake. At LeMans in 2004 a group of fans (BadBoy Vettes) that embraced Corvette Racing noticed that the team had had unofficially embraced skull icons as a symbol of the take-no-prisoners mentality of those intense 24 hours. "TAKE NO PRISONERS" was actually scrawled on the wall of the Corvette pit.
The first Jake to appear was in 2005 at LeMans on the b pillars of the first C6-R. So any and all C5 Jakes are made up by different individuals and not official Jakes. In fact I believe that GM and BadBoy Vettes have a copyright on the Jake synbol. I am a Corvette Racing fan all the way and display my Jake proudly.
Actually I just checked and it appears that all Corvette Racing apparel and accessories (includes all Jakes) are GM trademarked

Reason: Correcting the copyright/trademarking of Jake.
to make it more of C5.5? Just guessing here after seeing a couple of "C6 style" front bumper efforts meant to I guess "update" C5? Since there is already C4 to C5 "conversion", maybe there will be one C4 straight to C6? The jake should fit nicely on C4 then too
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
