Hi everyone, i am from montreal and i am planning my first trip to
new-york city october 10 and i am looking for a safe place anywhere in manhattan to park the Z , day time only.Any suggestion?
Pretty much anywhere you go, you're going to have your car crammed in between another two cars and you're almost guaranteed to get some kind of cosmetic damage. Every time I've been to NYC my truck has acquired a new scratch of some sort. Parking isn't cheap either. My recommendation is take something you care less about, or keep the Z out of NYC.
you could always try the NY waterway Ferry in Weehawken right across the river in Jersey. Its a very large lot. Its open parking, but there's a lot of room. I live right up the road and its a pretty secure area. There's always a Black Z and a new Camaro parked there during the week.

When the misses and I lived in tribeca Id leave my Z in our building, 88 Leonard, right off broadway.. Havent even tried getting into the lot in our new building, way too small.. Where are you staying?
If you are going to be in mid-town, near Times Square area, there is an Icon parking garage on 40th St. between 7th Avenue and Broadway. Their price is reasonable for the area. I park my MB there often and have never had a problem. The other mid-town garage I use from time to time is the Hippodrome, on 44th St., between 5th and 6th Aves.
That said, remember that you can't leave anything valuable in your car no matter which garage you park in in the city. Stuff like GPS's, personal belongings, will often disappear. And if you have really fancy, expensive rims, I'd think twice about even bringing it to NYC.
Other than that, enjoy! The city is great. If you need some recommendations on places to visit or restaurants, PM me.
By the way, forgot to mention -- be aware that the streets in NYC are really, really bad, especially for a low car like the Z. Lots of pot holes, bumps, uneven pavement. And driving in NYC during the week is a nightmare for someone not familiar with the city and city driving. If I were you, and had never been in NYC before, I'd seriously consider flying down and just taking a taxi from the airport to a hotel in the city, and forget about driving.
Driving in Montreal is like being in a cow pasture by yourself compared to mid-town New York during the week. Even on weekends, it is difficult driving. And it is even worse for someone who doesn't know the streets, traffic patterns, turn restrictions, "don't block the box" rules, with taxi manics and trucks everywhere. I NEVER take the Corvette into the city, only my SUV because the roads are just terrible and I feel safer knowing I'm bigger than all the damn taxis.
Driving in the city is not fun, and I've lived in NYC and northern NJ my entire life and think nothing of going into New York. Be careful out there if you do decide to drive.
