Whatever you decide to use, read the directions carefully. Some exterior body emblem adhesive (3M #8061 for example) will degrade base coat/clear coat paint quickly. It literally melts it.
Personally, I'd use double sided automotive grade tape. It can be found at NAPA and other popular automotive supply sources.
A couple of suggestions; 3M weatherstrip cement or Loctite silcone cement. I think I would try the weatherstrip first as while very sticky it can be removed if needed but the Loctite silcone is also pretty good. I've never needed to remove it however. The key is cleaning the surfaces correctly,,,use denatured alcohol or something that won't desolve the paint or the urethane.

That's exactly what i DON'T wanna do!
Tape sounds like a good idea. All i need is a tiny amount....was thinking maybe silicone adhesive.

I recently had my stainless steel "R" come loose - Cleaned off the old tape (PITA) and then used some 3M double sided tape to reinstall. So far, it is sticking very well.
