Default C6 Wheels on C5

Will they fit?
I have an 08 Z with oem chrome z wheels. Replacing them with black chrome wheels. Our 00 C5 needs new tires, but before I buy new tires for the C5, was thinking of this application.

The rear wheels will stick out past the fender, it won't look right...

Try it and you'll see...

I was just getting ready to post the question of C6 wheels/tires on a C5.
Last post said the C6 wheels/tires would stick out. Is this because a C6 Z06 has a wider wheel/tire combo than a C6? I have seen other member's C5's with C6 wheels and they looked okay. I did hear that there maybe an issue with tire rub on the inner rear wheel well, but many said no. Some have had to utilize a spacer, others have not. I also understand that the C5 will not recognize the C6 tire press. sensors (TPS)
To run A set of C6 wheels on a C5 (in my case, an 01 verte), can you just replace the C6 TPS with C5 TPS units to make it work. I hope so, I have a nice set of C6 wheels/tires.

I don't know about the C6 Z06 rims...

but the standard C6 rear rims sit inwards on a C5... to where many use 1/4" plate spacers; and the front C6 standard rims need nothing done (they are the same exact offset as the C5 front rims).

The C6 Z06 rims... are they that much wider - or is the offset different compared to the standard C6 rims?

Okay, thanks for the response. That should help the original poster too, man00dude. Can you still use the original wheel studs if you use a 1/4 " spacers? and, will using C5 sensors in the C6 wheels work? Thanks

yes; for street driving... but not advised for roadracing.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. I haven't had the opportunity to do my own research on this. I may have time in the next two weeks to try the Z rear wheels on the C5 to see what they look like.

I did see a C5 at FunFest this last weekend that had some big wheels on the rear. They did stick out about 3/4 of an inch past the fender. I could live with that. Or eventually get the wide body kit for the C5.

Again thanks.

My boss has some dark C6 wheels he is looking to replace and I was thinking of buying them from him to put on my '02 coupe. I just wasn't sure if dark gray rims would look good on a yellow couple. I think the fit will be fine from the sounds of it.

I am living proof the standard C6 wheels will work. I ran them without a spacer for a while with no problem, but the rears will ever so slightly rub the inner wheel well plastic during jounce/rebound. They sat inside the wheel well too deep for me, so I added 1/4 spacers. There are enough threads left to torque to specification without any fear of loosening under street driving...I have checked and rechecked several times because I am a chicken

I have C6 on my '03 and they do rub the inner fender wells slightly when bouncing. Had them on for 3 yrs now and no real problem.

Can anyone recommend a brand or maker of the 1/4" inch spacer for this application. Thanks

I have had stock C6 wheels and tires on my '02 since April of '06 without issue rubbing or otherwise. I picked up the wheels from a local club member without sensors and the used tires right here on the forum. Siince my sensors were almost 5 years old at the time and I didn't break down my original wheels and tires I purchased new sensors. I have driven over 30k miles since and am pleased with the look and feel.
