I recall a picture of a side pipe that was hanging below and outside of the rockers. Looked like total crap to me.
FYI, the frame rail does kick up before the end of the rocker but the gas tanks extend past that kick-up to the rear suspension. I don't believe it's possible to pipe around the tank to get to the end of the rocker without the pipe being in the wheel well where your tire needs to be. Now, if you really wanted it, you could fab up new tanks or put a fuel cell in the back and then you would have room to put side exits in about the same location as the C5Z rear brake duct grills.
You could maybe get a rocker skirt of some sort to extend the rockers down another inch or so and then fab up a flat rectangular side exit ala NASCAR style that exits right below the frame rail and original rocker. Maybe even just a 1" high by 6" or 8" or so box coming out from the tunnel exhaust in front of the rear wheels would look OK. But then, it's be square and this car is very curvy and I just don't think the two would go together. I personally feel you need a more squared corner rocker to make a square exhaust exit box look right.
I guess you could put a round hole at the front of the frame and another at the kick-up at the back and get a pipe in there somehow. You'd have to get the holes just right and you'd also probably have to pull the back of the car all apart to have enough room to snake a straight piece of pipe down the frame rail.
A side exit behind the rear wheels should be fairly easy to fab up. I just find that location means you have to be fairly creative in the shape and exit of the pipe to make it look right. That team insane car with the exit and round ring just doesn't look quite right to me. Maybe an angled pipe exit like shown on that red car's front fender with an oval protection ring would look better.
You really need to take a very good look under the car and think hard about any possible pipe routing before deciding what you think you want. You might be surprized just how little room you have for custom exhaust routing (as in absolutely no room without it hanging below the car).
