My MY coupe always seems to have a dirty butt. Almost immediately after washing the car and then running it, it seems to have a lot of fine cabon deposits all over my backend. Now the MY color makes it more noticable, but is this a common thing or is my car running a little off?
I'll be installing some headers soon and plan on replacing the plugs and wires then, the car has 45k miles.

If it is carbon deposits, I would say no that is not common. If it is dust particles, then yes, the C5 is known for sucking up and depositing dirt on the back fascia when the car is driven. Not much you can do about it.
Without any exaggeration, I can drive my perfectly clean (black) C5 to the end of my (short) paved street and back, and there is dust all over the rear. Never seen anything like it on a car. My C2 might get a slight exhaust haze on the bumpers after 100 miles or so, but there wouldn't be a speck of dirt/dust on the rear end.

I believe you. I'll wash it and go for a short trip to the store or something. When I return it looks just like it did before I washed it. A true dust magnet , My wife calls it the road swifter
Back in Feb/Mar when I first got my car, I too realized how dirty the car got in the back, especially the recesses in the tail lights which I tried to cure with a flush mount kit but was not too hot on the flushed out look so went back to stock with the tail lights.
Now I just deal with it and just wash it when I can as I just can't be no slave to my car.
Ok here's a secret, re-detail your *** than use Rejex wax. since using Rejex my *** stay's clean. I also did the whole car after clean it with dish soap, clay bar than Rejex.
Car stays cleaner and nothing sticks to it anymore. Also did the rims and noticed they don't get as much dust stuck to them.

Same here on yelow it is bad.
Also, around the front fender vents and botom of rear 1/4 panels.
Believe some of this is brake dust and exhaust discharge.

I collect dust in the same places. Surprisingly, it's not that noticeable on an Arctic White until you get a little moisture on the rear fascia that causes the dust to clump together.
One trick: I carry an aerosol can of compressed air sold for cleaning computer keyboards and whatnot. Just the ticket for blowing dust out of the taillight wells, rear lettering, and license plate well.
I suspect the various gray and silver colors do the best at camouflaging dust and black is the worst. I live on a dirt road, my wife's black Envoy looks 10x worse than my silver Sierra. Anytime we take the Corvette out, first stop is the local touchless car wash.
I always use Charmin on my dirty A$$--and keep a good coat of vasoline around the cracks- If you dont have vasoline--put Zainos on,its good for everything--

Might want to check for a leaky butt... that too, will deposit small black spots or what appear as "carbon deposits"

The first sign for me that the rear seals are leaking is the oil spots that start to build up on the rear end. I'd take it out and run it for a while and then put some paper or something under the rear and see if your getting any leaking. I've been through this about 5 times already. One time resulted in a new differential. Good luck.
