I'm planning on changing my trans and diff fluids soon with Royal Purple Syncromax and Max Gear. My question is do i still need a friction additive for the diff, the bottle says its not needed. Just wondering your experiences.
There is even a metal plate on my diff fill plug specifying that you need the limited slip additive. The owner's manual says the same thing. I use Mobole 1 LS with the additive already in it.
Used the RP Max Gear in my rear diff about two years go. Did not add the limited slip additive and I have had zero issues. The additive is already in the gear lube. Others will disagree but just stating my experience. Good luck with it.

"All viscosities of Max-Gear are formulated with hypoid friction modifiers necessary for use in clutch or cone type differentials. No additional additives are necessary."
Used gear oil is one of the worst smelling fluids on the planet...
