The seat moves to the memorized position only some of the times and at other times you have to press the number 1 button.some one told me if you hit your fob once and start the car it goes to the desired memory position automatically but if you hit the fob twice to allow a passenger in you have to manually hit the number 1 button any know what triggers the automated movement of the seat???
Mine goes to some really weird positions about 10% of the time I get in. Sometimes it's only off in the forward/backward location. Other times it almost rises forward enough to squeeze the life out of me against the steering wheel.
The memory seat is the object of much discussion from time to time, and I'm sure by doing a search you can find much info on the subject. That being said much of the discussion centers around the fact that the seats will only act on the memory function (returning to your driving position), after you have locked and unlocked the doors. If you get out close the door and return, get in and put key in ignition without having locked and unlocked the door seat will remain in the setback position. ...."pear"

Mine did the same thing last night for the first time. Every time I hit the memory button to fix it, it would shove me further into the steering wheel and roof I don't know what I did but all of a sudden it went back, just glad to see I'm not alone
if i remember correctly, one of the issue involved the proper key fob number. if you look on the back of the unit, there is a 1 or a 2 on the back. that relates to the memory button to use as it is sensed via the fob. perhaps that's your problem (or at least a start).
my memory set up is very inconsistant. seems to work sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. i'll have to pay closer attention to whether it works relative to the door being locked and unlocked. i never really paid loads of attention to that. seems to me that it doesn't matter as i never lock the car in the garage (it is always garaged), and it seems to work sometimes when i get in and sometimes not. i will admit, however, i never really paid attention locked or not, but i will.
I don't know if it's any help or not. My 2003 was doing the exact same thing. Took it to my favorite dealership and the technican remove the driver's seat and lubed the tracks and reinstalled them. The Service manager said if it happens again it's going to need new seat tracks. My car is still under warranty, so it's not a big deal for me. But I have noticed a lot of folks here having the same problem.
I gave up trying to figure it out. I have the same problem. I get in the car at work, put in the key and glide in to position. I get up the next day, put the key in and ...nothing. I push memory 1 and it goes where it should.
We all know it's basic function; unlock the car, open the door the memory light blink, put the key in the ignition, seat moves to memorized position.
HOWEVER, if you did not lock your doors and you open the door, the memory will not activate either profile (1 or 2) until you push one of the memory buttons. If you try to unlock the doors with the fob AFTER you've already gotten in and closed the door, (even if you open and close the door afterwards) it will not activate the memory and position the seat after you put the key in.
When you open your door, the light on the memory buttons will blink with the memory it's going to use. If it did not blink when you opened your door, it's likely because you didn't use the fob to unlock your doors before opening the door. You can force it to a memory by selecting which one you plan to use before you put the key in the ignition. When you push a memory button before putting the key in, you should see it blink a couple times to let you know it's been pre-selected.
The best thing to do is remember to lock you doors. It will always work as expected if you lock your doors and unlock them with the fob.

I fully understand the sequence in the memory connection to the VATS and the need for the correct fob to be used only after unlocking the car to receive correct memory function, but as of late the mirrors, and seat don't seem to remember my set positions? No codes, so I'm all ears.

Probably a stupid question, but you are holding down the memory button for 3 seconds to "set" the memory once you've got everything to your liking, right?

Yes, The LED indicator blinks quickly (maybe 3 times) telling the user that the new setting has been logged, Right?
Really? That's pretty amazing the the owner's manual adresses what is wrong with MY seats. That must be boring reading for the rest of the Corvette owners.
