local performance shop told me that if i swooped out the engine wireing harness from my 98 to a newer 2001 harness i'd get alot more power out of the car.
does that sound dumb to anyone else? or is there seomthing i'm missing.
NOW if they are actually talking about swooping out th ECU that seems more "resonable" maybe alittle more power from the computer. But what would a wire harness change? Its the same wires right?
Didn't the '98 come with 345 hp and 350 ft lbs of torque? The 2001 offers 350 hp and 360 or so ft lbs of torque even if they where right, it would cost a lot to purchase one and the time to swap out. I would spend your money on worthy upgrades.

OK... Now seriously... Go back and tell them exactly this:
"I had another shop replace my harness with the 2001 harness and you're right. It feels like I picked up like 20HP easy. Why is that? Was there some sort of update in the harness where they change the metals used in the wires? One of my friends told me the new harness has NOS. What's NOS? Is that good?"
LOL... If they're going to ***** with you, it's only fair that you ***** with them back.
EDIT: By the way, if you REALLY want to get 'em, say "Oh! And I had them replace the primary transmission. They said the front one was bad."
