I replaced the rear deck screws with the stainless set but for some reason I have gaps and showing spacers and washers. I did like the directions said and did one at a time, what did I do wrong and how do I get the gap out of there????? I've tried several things but the spacers don't seem to get out of the way enough to get rid of the gap.
HELP!

I've done a complete replacement (all around) with stainless screws about a year ago, and haven't had that problem. So I'm interested in hearing this also.
I got them from API Designs, A lot of them wouldn't tighten down properly and seemed undersize or too short. I am not bad mouthing anyone here all I want to do is go back to the originals and fix the gap problem. API was willing to refund or replace.
I did my doors and underhood no problem but was from a different vender.
The orginals tighten down fine, I just need to figure out how or why the spacers and washers won't slide under and out of the way.
I'm sure it's simple but apparently I'm dumb and dumber combined
Hi all:
I went to Home Depot first and got S/S replacement screws. The heads where too high for the rear trunk area and they started to rub the deck lead. I put on a foam tape to cushion the screw heads but I was not happy with the result. CorvetteMods ran a special deal for a complete set of s/s screws for about $20.00. got put them in and they are great. It took a few times on some cover the hole completely. Took all of a hour or so. Great rainy day project.

Its been two years since I did mine but I do remember having a combination of different size screws and some washers. Some locations I used a slightly larger screw (#8 vs #6 I think).
I think I got mine from CCA and they came with pretty good instructions on where I'd need to use the different screws and the washers.
