OK, so everytime I put a cd in my radio I get ERR. I was looking at radios on Ebay and found one from an 98 Blazer its Bose and looks just like the radio in my car. Does anyone know if it will work?
Thanks

Easy fix.... The laser is dirty.
I tried a few laser cleaners on the market that did not work.
I wrote a procedure on it when I fixed mine. (click link below) My CD player was not reading ANY CD's anymore. If I did get it to read it would skip like crazy. Now it reads them all and does not skip.
Actually the write ups above are top notch, however...I am not very mechanically inclined. I followed all the steps but now I have no power to the CD. It will not even feed a CD in. Sigh.

to specifically answer your question:
NO, it probably won't work.
In my situation, I wanted to replace the tape deck in my '98 with a CD from a '99 or '00 blazer as well...can't remember the year exactly.

I just started taking it apart till I got to the laser. Just be very organized when your taking it apart. Set aside a nice spot on a table. Its not hard at all. Just be careful and take it easy. Don't force any wires apart. They should disconnect fairly easily. I wrote this procedure as I took mine apart for the first time . I had no guide to go by, and had no idea what I was doing.
I figured I had nothing to loose since it did not work anymore. It was either send it off to be fixed , or try it myself. Luckily for me it worked and I saved some $$ doing it myself. I hope my procedure can save you some $$ too.
i had a similar problem. it would play reguluar cds that you buy from the store and some selected burnt cds, but for some reason it just didnt like a lot of the burnt cds. never had a problem with ones bought at the store. i went with an aftermarket head unit. problem solved. looks way better too.
