Raccoon Damage!
I have been driving for over 36 years now and have never hit an animal until Weds. night. Unfortunately I was driving the Vette. I can't believe how much damage is done hitting a Raccoon.

Just be thankful it didn’t hit in the middle and go up in the radiator area. 
I ran over half a deer with my Civic 2 years ago going about 80. The stupid lady in front of me must not have been paying attention and nicked it as we were going down the interstate shooting it backwards in to the lane. Luckily it didn’t do any damage to my car but don’t know about the others behind me since it went everywhere. For about a year dogs loved to smell that car.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine with his Vette and an opossum.

Had a friend who hit one with his vette and the thing got stuck in the nose and was still alive. Nobody could get near the car! Finally, a cop came along and shot it. Good thing nobody touched it because it was rabid. Sorry you had the problem, but glad there wasn't more damage.

I never hit or killed one in the Vette, however I was following an SUV in heavy traffic when I came across a dead one on the road. The SUV cleared it, I however did not and heard and felt the carcas roll a few times. No damage but I broke out the pressure washer and cleaned the Vette's belly as soon as possible!

only time i ever hit an animal was a pigeon in my grand am. it saw me comming for like 30 seconds and i thought it would move... next thing i know is tons of feathers in my rear view mirror. no damage though.

I took out a Raccon with my Vett 3 years ago. $1800 later it was as good as new. Your damage looks about like my car did. Check the lower radiator support for damage. Take it to a good Body Shop. Good luck.

I hit a bat with my C5 windshield one night, the top was off also. Luckily he did not get in the car. One member had one come in on his lap !

Same exact thing happened to me 5 yrs ago w/ my 03Z. Looks like the same damage too. I couldn't believe how much damage it did. I thought it was a dog and went back to look and it was a racoon!! Cost me 1800 out of pocket!!!

I know how it feels. I hit one on the corner and it spider webbed the crap out of the paint. I almost wish it took a chunk becuase it's hardly worth an insurance claim like it is right now.
