Default Faint Electronic Noise

Decided to take a road trip yesterday to check out the fall colors. On the return trip I started to notice a faint electronic noise. It definately was coming from the drivers side but beyond that was impossible to isolate the exact location. The sound was sort of like a electronic beep but not exactly and was very random. Turning on and off various electonics in the car wouldn't cause the sound, speeding up or slowing down wouldn't cause the sound and there wern't any error messages on the DIC. Even the time interval when it would happen was very random. Has anyone experienced this condition?

Could be the fuel pump. Turn the key to On without turning the car on and listen for the fuel pump to click on.

Can try shutting the radio (if it was on) to see if its a component making the noise (like the fuel pump above) or an electrical thing being picked up by the radio.

Feedback interference in your cars electrical system from speed radars telling you to SLOW DOWN.

Default RE: Faint Electronic Noise

Thanks everyone for the replies. The radio was not on and the noise didn't change when I turned the radio on and off. I won't admit to speed but I believe I was in legal range, give or take a few mph. Has anyone tried the fuel tank insulator pad GM part # 12493728, GM service bulletin 99-06-04-052. I was wondering if it helped and just how much work it is to install.
