I assume you are talking about the paddle shifter for the C6 - A6.
There is currently no paddle shifter option for the C5 that doesn't require you to remove the airbag.
There's a company called Monarch that makes hand controls, model Monarch Mark1A.
Go to your local Barnes & Noble and search thru the current Corvette magazines, there's actually an article about a C5 or C6 with this hand control but I can't remember which
magazine. I know you can do a google search on same and a lot of auto hand controls are
sold by your local mobility businesses. Hope this helps.
My father has hand controls in his C4 that work like a champ. I'll give him a ring a little later and see what kind they are. We had them in all the cars when I was growing up
If you do a search, you can find a company, I saw this on a C-3 that the owner had lost the use of his legs and the company had a conversion kit to bolt the lever for the brakes on the column and the gas pedal on a console mounted lever. It doesn't look like much, but it works. Good luck Brother.

Monarch is a control device that is connected to operate both the throttle and brakes on a car. Push the lever forward for gas. Pull down for the brakes.
A friend of mine in a Vette Club has a set-up like that. He lost the use of his legs in a construction accident several years ago. He also has a rotary **** mounted to his steering wheel to aid in his limited hands/arm usage.
There was even a write-up of the system in either Corvette Enthusiast or Corvette Magazine a couple of months back.
Good luck in getting your set-up. Where there's a will, there's a way.

All of the hand controls we have had were down for gas, and push forward for brake... only problem with this on the Vette is the lack of clearance between the tops of your legs and the bottom of the dash doesn't leave a lot of room.
I just read the article in corvette mag about the hand controls. they are in a c6. I think the guys above are right about the brand but if you can't find any info, let me know and I will get you the info directly from the article. good luck with getting this to work. make sure you post when you have your c5 set up with the hand controls
You guys know if they make a system like that for a 99 camaro? I have a brother who was confined to a wheelchair after a motorcycle accident left him paralyzed from the waist down 3years ago who still has his camaro (uses an integra now with a similar setup to get around). His camaro is a 6spd, and I'm trying to get a swap done to an auto (we can store the T56) with a similar system so we can both take our LS1 powered cars out.

Anthony, the Monarch system is NOT Corvette specific, it's kind of a universal system to fit a lot of different cars, which makes it more affordable and easier to install.

I might be wrong, I've slept sense the last time I saw the control set-up.
The dude I know has his on a C6, Auto trans. I do remember he lowers his seat to the lowest (down) position.
This may be of help to you. There is a company here locally (Richmond, VA) that does conversion vans for the handicapped. It is : Ride-Away Handicap Equipment Corp. There phone # 804-233-8267. If I recall correctly they have done a conversion on a vette. May want to check and see if they have a web site. They may be able to steer you in the right direction.
yea i am just running into the clearance problems.
Sounds like you found a set? I have used Monarch Mark 1-A controls for 16 years or more.. They work great and are very reliable. Supposedly every GM car from 1992 till the present have pre-drilled/tapped holes on the steering column to mount the controls. The controls are infinitely adjustable and come with several different car specific mounting brackets. Here are a couple pictures of the controls installed in my 87 C4. as you can see not much room to work with but they do work great and I have full acceleration. On my newer vehicles the main bracket is bolted to the column. On my 83 ElCamino and 87 C4 I used the stainless steel strap bracket that tightens up around the column as you can see in the picture below. Not too hard to install...even from a wheelchair..The only permanent damage to the car is the lower dash panel has to be modified or removed. I just cut a 6in by 2in wide slot in mine.
I have heard of a different type control that might work better where room is an issue. They are made by a company called Menox. They mount on the floor board between your right leg and the console. I looks loke an extra gear shift lever. I've never used this type but hear they work great. If you have any questions or I can help in any way feel free to PM me.
I don't know if this is only on a new car purchase but a friend bought a 99 C-5 and the dealer installed the hand controls free through a GM assistance plan. They came from his previous car. You may want to contact GM to see if they can be of any help, either installing or a discount assistance plan for the controls and installation.
