Does anyone know the spline size on the upper steering shaft of a C5? I am looking at putting an aftermarket steering wheel on my car and the quick-release hub comes in either a 5/8" or a 3/4". I don't know which is the correct size. Since I haven't ordered anything yet, I haven't pulled off my steering wheel....otherwise, I'd just go measure it.
Hi There;
I called the local chevy parts man & asked them to look at the IPBL.They said the shaft size is 14mm x1.5" So if they are correct the 14mm = 5/8th diameter. He said it takes a 27mm socket to fit that nut.(thats a lot bigger than 3/4") You need to order a new set nut anyway. You can not re- use the old one. The torque is 30ft.lbs. Check with your local parts man & see if he confirms the above info.
