Default Exhaust Mod

I found a shop that will do the mod to my TI exhaust. I am bringing him photos of how the bypass pipe should be placed. What is the best way to cut the holes for the bypass pipe in the stock pipes? Cutting wheel, hole saw, plasm cutter, or other?
Thanks for any info or photos.

I would think that plasma would be the best. Did you buy the Ti pipe and welding rods for the welder?

Why ruin a perfect Ti system. There were one or two w/ this mod , recently 4 sale & having a hard time selling . If you go back into the 4 sale section, you can get a set allready w/ the mod done. Sell yours and buy theirs.

Why would I buy a set for $400 + shipping and then have to sell mine. This only costs $150 to do and I have not heard any complaints about the results.

I'll second no complaints, I love my modded Ti

B&B Bullets are great if you are fighting with the person in the passenger seat and do not want to talk to them or if you can drive from outside the car.

I have no idea how the holes were cut when mine was done, but would ask some hard questions about how much Ti work the shop has done if they are asking The guy down here just did it, no questions other than when do we need it??

Check out the thread in the Southwest section about Ti for exhaust

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/sout...i-exhaust.html

Hope this helps

I used a UniBit as we call them.. Its a drill but the shape of a triangle that goes from small to big.. worked like a charm.

The Ti by-pass mod is awsome! I love it! Ignore those that knock it.

I used a toilet paper roll or paper towel roll

cut to the length of the pipe to be installed.

Cut it length ways and then wrap it around the pipe to be used and then tape it in the middle leaving the ends easily shaped.

I basically placed it where I wanted it and then pressed the TP roll so that it took on the shape and contour that I wanted at the mating area.

I then trimmed the TP roll so that it fit nicely.

The TP roll was then slid over the Ti pipe and I traced out on the Ti using the TP roll the outline needed to fit the larger pipe.

I actually cut the Ti using a dremel and cut off wheel. Well several cut off wheels. It's all I had so that's what I used.

After I got the shape I wanted and the fit was snug (you don't want large gaps, it needs to be a tight fit) I then placed the pipes on the exhaust system and traced out the area to be cut open.

When you cut it open make sure you cut it INSIDE of the out line so you don't get any gaps.

Then I fed the welders at work Pizza and they hooked a brotha up.

I love my modded TI too! You retain the stock lightweight setup, but get a very throaty exhaust note. Best of both worlds!

Here's another vote for the modified Ti. I normally don't like to compromise on anything when it comes to cars but I am very happy I gave up the the obnoxious B&B bullets for the quieter modified Ti. It's light, looks unassuming, and still sounds great when you want it to.

I like that I have my Ti exhaust sitting around for when I want to sell the car.
